Landlocked, bounded by mighty rivers and mountains, Zimbabwe has a long, unique and colourful history set in a beautiful landscape shaped by the elements.
From earliest times to the present, it has boasted a rich cultural heritage, archaeological treasures and friendly people who never seem to be worn down by the almost constant set of challenges that Zimbabwe has faced.
The map of Zimbabwe shows how the country balances like a boulder on the northernmost point of South Africa, prevented from toppling over by Mozambique in the east and Botswana in the west. Zimbabwe shares its northern border, as well as Victoria Falls and Lake Kariba, with Zambia.
Eastern Zimbabwe is dominated by magnificent mountain ranges, with Chimanimani, Bvumba and Nyanga providing beautiful scenery, waterfalls and cool air compared to the hot, boulder-strewn interior.
The interior is also where you will find the ancient city of Great Zimbabwe and the modern capital, Harare.
Moving west you find the quiet city of Bulawayo and the Hwange National Park, just south of Victoria Falls.
