Wildlife - one of the most biodiverse marine areas in the world; dugongs, fish eagles, sharks, turtles, and humpback whales can all be found in abundance.
Quilalea Island Lodge is an idyllic Mozambican island resort nestling in a forgotten corner of Mozambique's Querimbas Archipelago in the tropical Indian Ocean. Completely uninhabited, this Indian Ocean island offers complete exclusivity and unparalleled natural beauty.
Quilalea is part of a marine sanctuary, which functions as a nursery for turtles that nest on the beach. Dugongs have been sighted here many times, and humpback whales shelter in the channel during the months of July to January before continuing their journey to the South. Numbers of all marine organisms are high and increasing; a total of 375 different species of fish have been identified in the sanctuary area. Conservation efforts at Quilalea have produced some of the finest diving, fishing and birding available in the world today. And all visitors to the island help sustain the conservation efforts as well as the local communities.
Apart from diving there are many other ways to spend your time - while away your days soaking up the sun by the swimming pool or on the pristine, white beaches or choose from the many adventure activities on offer on the island; fly fishing, surf casting, sport fishing, canoeing, island exploration, historical tours and dhow sailing trips.
LocationQuilalea Island Lodge is located in a marine sanctuary - the island forms part of the Quirimbas Arquipelago, which stretches from Pemba to the Rovuma River, the natural frontier with Tanzania.
