The geography of Lesotho

As you can see from the map of Lesotho, it is a small land-locked country entirely surrounded by South Africa. The name Lesotho roughly translates into "the land of the people who speak Sotho". In fact, very few people in Lesotho speak English.



Lesotho is also known as 'the Kingdom in the Sky' because it's one of only a handful of countries that lies completely above an altitude of 1000 metres.
