Kichwa Tembo Bateleur Camp lies below the Oloololo Escarpment of the Great Rift Valley in the north-western corner of the Masai Mara National Reserve. Bateleur Camp, which opened its doors in May 2000, is the newest addition to Kichwa Tembo and is a member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World.

The main guest area, which is shaded by a dense forest canopy, has a comfortable lounge with a fireplace and a veranda. While you are relaxing inside the camp, you can take in the endless, game-filled plains with the dramatic Oloololo Escarpment as a backdrop. The main tent is tastefully decorated with hand crafted artefacts and fine antiques. A personal butler ensures that you are pampered in style.

The unfenced Masai Mara, which forms 1 ecosystem with the neighbouring Serengeti, is home to the greatest concentration of large mammals on earth. Game viewing activities include morning and afternoon drives as well as guided nature walks. Hot-air balloon safaris can also be arranged. In the heat of the day you can relax by the tree-shaded swimming pool or enjoy an in-room massage.

Kichwa Tembo Bateleur Camp is situated in the north-western corner of the Masai Mara National Reserve, in south-western Kenya.

The restaurant serves Pan-African cuisine on the veranda overlooking the plains of the Mara, or in the main dining area. After dinner you can relax with a glass of port in front of the fire.

Dinner is often served in a clearing under the stars and bush breakfasts can also be arranged.

Accommodation at Kichwa Tembo Bateleur Camp is in 18 spacious tents with wooden floors, en-suite bathrooms and a private veranda. The tents are comfortably furnished with a writing desk, ceiling fans and needlepoint rugs.
