Up & Away - watch the plains come to life on a dawn balloon safari.
Bush Cuisine - the camp is known for delicious breakfasts, buffet lunches & four-course dinners.
Fantastic Wildlife - the Mara is home to Africa's 'Big 5' & the extraordinary annual migration.
Governors' Camp has a peaceful setting in the forest along the winding banks of the Mara River, in the northern Masai Mara. The camp was established in 1972, and combines a traditional safari feel with a touch of luxury. Being an unfenced camp, it is common to see hippos grazing on the lawns, while crocodiles bask in the river below.
The Masai Mara is a unique area with a constant flow of wildlife throughout the year. From July to October the Mara becomes a backdrop for one of the last great natural wonders of the world, the great migration of thousands of wildebeest in their journey to find better grazing and water. Governors' Camp offers a perfect setting in which to witness the migration, as well as spotting other wildlife that hunts and resides in the surrounding area.
The guides are both knowledgeable and entertaining, and you have the choice of three game drives per day, as well as guided bush walks. Hot air balloon safaris are well worth the extra expense; consider floating in the quiet dawn above the Mara plains, ending with a delicious champagne breakfast in the middle of nowhere.
