Overview of Kibale Forest Camp

Hidden just outside the southern border of beautiful Kibale Forest National Park, Kibale Forest Camp neighbours the fascinating Magombe Swamp (also known as the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary). The area attracts a host of butterflies, birds and a variety of primates and offers an unforgettable nature experience.

When you are not relaxing at the camp spotting the red or black-and-white colobus monkeys that often wander through the grounds, you can enjoy a number of treks in Bigodi where you can search for a wide range of primates and birds. Visits to the nearby crater lakes or a night walk in the national park also come highly recommended.

Kibale Forest Camp is very conveniently located a short drive from the Kanyanchu Visitor Center, from where you depart on your exhilarating chimpanzee trek among habituated chimps.

The camp was very nicely located in the forest and the staff always kind and helpful. Our guide was very knowledgeable and experienced. He gave us the possibility to observe chimps from very close never interfering with their interactions and daily life.

The Kibale Forest Camp was very good. The tent was a good design, the staff were pleasant, the food excellent and the camp was well run. We really liked it. The chimp tracking was also very good. Not quite the same as gorilla tracking in Rwanda, but still a great experience. The swamp walk was also quite nice.

The first day of chimp tracking, (Kibale) was excellent, with some very close and extended encounters with chimps on the ground.
